Uni Work: Osman S/S 2010 London Fashion Week

“Lady in White”

“Those who think it permissible to tell white lies soon grow colour-blind”

It seems Sam Sparro’s smash hit single “Black and Gold”, maybe have gotten the colour combinations a bit wrong. White and gold, are the way forward. With Osman Yousefzada’s all white collection, adding blocks of gold, would give the single a run for its money. The collection makes use of smocks, trapeze dresses and A-line coat dresses. The collection is something that could get Jackie O turning in her grave with glee. The gold panel detailing on the dresses and tops enhances his futuristic shape. Taking inspiration from North African djellaba and the Japanese kimono. Construction of the pieces was sharp and conceptual from the origins of the kimono and loose taken from the djellaba. The silhouette of the collection was futuristic and sleek. Osman’s designs accentuate the female form with a clean cut.
